How Do I Use TempSmile Dental Repair Beads?

TempSmile beads are made from a thermoplastic material that softens in hot water. When placed in water at around 60–70°C, the beads turn transparent and become moldable. At that point you can shape the material with your fingers to recreate the contour of a tooth or fill a gap, then position it in place. As it cools back to room temperature, the material hardens and keeps the shape you created.

Is TempSmile Safe for My Teeth?

TempSmile uses polycaprolactone (PCL), a medical-grade thermoplastic commonly used in dental and orthopedic molding applications. The material is non-toxic, BPA-free, and designed to be softened and reshaped multiple times without degrading. Because it does not chemically bond to the tooth, it sits over the area rather than attaching permanently, making it removable and adjustable.

Will It Look Natural?

TempSmile beads are slightly translucent once molded, which helps them blend more naturally with your surrounding teeth rather than looking like solid plastic. Many users also find that after drinking beverages like coffee or tea, the color can subtly adjust and appear closer to their natural tooth shade. Taking a few minutes to refine the shape and allowing a little time for the material to settle usually helps achieve the most natural-looking result.

How Long Does TempSmile Last?

Each TempSmile kit includes over 200 dental beads, which is typically enough material to create around 15–20 molded teeth depending on size and thickness. If a piece becomes worn or you want to improve the shape, you can simply create a new one using fresh beads. Because the material is reusable and easy to mold, many users keep extra beads to remake or adjust their tooth whenever needed.
